My most memorable project was buying a railway in WA. Multiple owners, time zones, stock exchanges and potential for multiple headaches. All achieved without a single boardroom derailment!

The most practical advice I’ve ever been given is never be a ‘cookie cutter’ consultant. Every client problem is unique.

I’m inspired by anything beginning with ‘i’ because you just know it will be memorable, elegant and practical. i-PRISM – what a great idea!

Cheryl Gray

My most memorable project was a designing a stakeholder engagement strategy for a south-east Queensland water utility and making sure community members and customers have genuine involvement in shaping its future.

The most practical advice I’ve ever been given is to tell your story like you’re at a BBQ with your neighbours. If they don’t get it, no one will.

I’m inspired by the women around me – their ability to multi-task is truly astounding.

Colleen Butterfield

My most memorable project was the multi-billion dollar upgrade of rail in south-east Queensland. The engagement was genuine and true alliances did everything possible to make communities happy.

The most practical advice I’ve ever been given is  “put yourself in the position of the audience”. Truly understanding the needs of your stakeholders is the best guide to delivering optimum communication solutions.

I’m inspired by people who are leading the social media revolution. Tweeters and social networkers make it look easy but theirs is communication at its most targeted.

Sophie Walker

My most memorable project was facilitating meetings with 200 angry people concerned about a rezoning of coastal land in Victoria. The conversations were the essence of true consultation.

The most practical advice I’ve ever been given is keep an eye on the detail! As a journalist, I learned the hard way about accuracy. There is nothing more humbling than having a correction issued for one of your stories.

I’m inspired by my best and oldest friend Susie for her optimism and energy.

Claire Power

My most memorable project was designing and implementing a communication campaign to reposition a research corporation from ‘traditional’ to ‘innovative’.

The most practical  advice I’ve been given is that if you’re not part of the solution you’re part of the problem. Communicators should work influence an organisation’s culture for the better.

I’m inspired by Tim Berners Lee. He looked at things a different way, thought big and created a huge change. Don’t recognise the name? You should – he invented the World Wide Web.

Vicki Cronin

My most memorable project was a CD marketing tool for an insurance client. Four months’ planning, thousands of pages, an immovable deadline and 50 shiny discs safely despatched to London.

The most practical piece of advice I’ve ever been given is ‘a problem shared is a problem halved’. There’s always a PRISMette who will lend their hand or their head for a solution.

I’m inspired by architect Frank Gehry. He is audacious in his vision, and his designs are memorable, elegant and practical.

Cathy Wilson

My most memorable project was working with a team rebuilding the Western Rail line after the January 2011 floods.  Engaging with people in the devastated communities was tough but an enormous privilege.

The most practical advice I’ve ever been given is to listen. Listening allows you to understand your clients’ situation, meet their expectations and deliver effective outcomes.

I’m inspired by Her Excellency Quentin Bryce.  She is elegant, gracious and a role model for all women. I was moved by her genuine compassion when meeting families affected by the 2011 floods.

Azra Alagic

My most memorable project required negotiating with stakeholders to identify a way to reduce coal dust from trains. 36 coal mines in central Queensland now have veneering spray stations reducing dust by up to 90%.

The most practical advice I’ve ever been given is don’t let your own emotions get in the way of a community being heard. Allow the community to vent and be empathetic but stay neutral so you can truly listen.

I’m inspired by people who find diplomatic, positive solutions for understanding in a climate where landholders and communities are being inundated by companies for land access.
